Frequently asked questions
These are the questions I get asked most about yoga and the classes. Whether you live here, you're visiting Sintra, or you're staying at the quinta, if something isn't answered here just write to me.
Getting started with yoga
No, to both. Classes welcome people who have never practised, and flexibility is a result of the practice, not a requirement to walk in. We adapt each posture to your body, with props if you need them. Starting from zero is the most normal thing in the world.
Classes, languages and the space
Yes. I teach in Portuguese and guide you in English whenever you need it, and I also get by in Spanish and French. Language won't be a barrier.
Times, prices and booking
Of course. You can come to a single drop-in class, with no commitment, and just practise while you're here. Tell me your dates and I'll fit you into the week's schedule.
Yin Yoga and Kundalini Yoga
They're almost opposites, which is why they work so well together. Yin Yoga is slow and still, to calm and release. Kundalini Yoga is active and energetic, with breath, movement and mantra. One lets you rest; the other energises you.
Yoga, health and benefits
It does, and it's one of the benefits I hear about most. Yin Yoga, by calming the nervous system at the end of the day, tends to show up in your sleep that same night.
Staying at the quinta
You can. Quinta do Pé Descalço is also a guesthouse, so you can stay here and practise two steps from your room. You wake up in the countryside, have breakfast, and walk to class without leaving the property.
Still have a question? Write to me and I'll get back to you, no strings attached.
